Having already expanded its Cologne office this year with the former Andersen team around Dr Hermann Knott and strengthened its Mainz office by taking on Dr Andreas Ziegler from PwC Legal, KUNZ is continuing its expansion course with the opening of a new office in Düsseldorf on 1 May 2021.
The new location will be headed by Dr Heiko A. Giermann LL.M. (McGill) and Ms Christine Libor. Both come from FPS Düsseldorf and will strengthen KUNZ as partners.
Dr Giermann specialises in general commercial and corporate law/M&A with a focus on clients in national and international trade and logistics. He is a specialist lawyer for transport and forwarding law. In logistics law, he supports his clients in particular in the areas of contract logistics, data warehousing and supply chain management. In the field of corporate law/M&A, Dr Giermann advises on medium-sized transactions and disputes between shareholders; in addition, he assists his clients in all matters of corporate housekeeping. He benefits from his many years of experience as member in shareholder and supervisory bodies.
Libor, a specialist lawyer for copyright and media law, has been advising publishing houses and performing art institutes for many years on copyright law and the law of expression as well as media employment law. As an editor of a media law journal and a sought-after interview partner of numerous media, she has a special understanding of the needs of media companies, which she represents both in an advisory capacity and in court. In addition, she assists companies in various industries with the implementation of IT projects. In labour law, she primarily represents the employer side. In this context, she has particular expertise in conducting conciliation boards as well as in obtaining interim injunctions against unlawful strike action.
"With the arrival of Ms Libor and Dr Giermann at partner level and the simultaneous opening of the Düsseldorf office, we are expanding and strengthening our services for small and medium-sized businesses in terms of space and personnel, and moreover, also in terms of expertise. Ms. Libor and Dr. Giermann are highly regarded and experienced specialists in their fields. We see their decision to join KUNZ as proof of KUNZ's attractiveness and our attractive environment offering excellent prospects for further development. Especially in the areas of corporate and M&A, there will be numerous synergies with our internationally active team around Dr Knott and also in the entire transport and logistics sector, where KUNZ is already strongly represented," says Dominic Steinborn, Partner at KUNZ. "In addition, we expect Ms Libor to dovetail closely with the team around Tim Schwarzburg, Marcus Menster and Arnold Neuhaus in the area of employment law and with our colleagues working in the area of intellectual property and IT & data protection."
„We are looking forward to the new challenge. The open and transparent partnership at KUNZ is exactly the working environment we have always aspired to join. Together with our colleagues in Cologne, we want to merge both locations into a single "Rhineland office" and together become the first point of contact for medium-sized businesses there," say Dr Giermann and Ms Libor.“
