Marcus Mayer
Salary Partner
Attorney-at-Law (Germany)
Attorney Mayer is a salary partner at our law firm and advises companies on all matters related to antitrust and competition law, as well as merger control.
After completing his studies in Freiburg im Breisgau and his legal clerkship, Mayer began his career in 2007 in the antitrust practice at Gleiss Lutz. From 2013 to 2024, Mayer worked at a Big Four firm, where he was responsible for the firm’s antitrust advisory practice nationwide for many years. Before joining KUNZ, Mayer ran his own antitrust boutique firm.
Marcus Mayer has a very broad range of expertise and extensive experience in antitrust law and merger control. A key focus of his practice is advising and representing companies in merger control proceedings before the Federal Cartel Office and the European Commission, as well as coordinating merger control proceedings worldwide. Mayer advises our clients on all aspects of antitrust fine law, including the review, preparation, and submission of leniency applications. The civil enforcement of claims for damages and other claims also falls within Attorney Mayer’s practice areas. Designing and supporting companies in the development and implementation of antitrust compliance measures is also a core focus of his work. Mayer assists our clients in drafting distribution, cooperation, R&D, and licensing agreements in a manner that complies with antitrust law.
Mayer also advises and represents his clients in distribution law and, in recent years, increasingly in unfair trade practices (UTP) law and investment control law. In addition, Marcus Mayer has consistently worked in other areas of commercial law throughout his career, such as in anti-dumping proceedings before the European Commission and the EU courts in Luxembourg.
