Specialist lawyer for commercial and corporate law
Dr. Klöckner focuses on corporate law and transactional practice. After his university education in Cologne, he obtained a Master of Laws degree from Cornell University (USA) in 2004 and wrote his doctoral thesis on the information duties and liability of board members of listed stock corporations in Germany and the USA. Following his practical training at the Higher Regional Court of Koblenz, he began his career as a lawyer in 2007 at a major German law firm, where he was a member of the M&A team for more than eight years. As a partner, he then built up the legal advisory branch of a multidisciplinary unit, during which time he qualified as a specialist lawyer for commercial and corporate law. Dr. Klöckner joined our firm on July 1, 2022 and is based in Cologne.
Dr. Klöckner advises in all areas of commercial and corporate law. His range of practice covers the entire "life cycle" of a company, from its formation through its operational activities to its liquidation. He contributes his expertise in commercial law in particular to the ongoing counseling of our clients. Dr. Klöckner has broad experience in the reorganization, restructuring and rehabilitation of companies, whether in the pre-insolvency crisis or in ongoing insolvency proceedings. In court, he represents our clients in disputes with shareholders or the company as well as in insolvency proceedings. Dr. Klöckner's focus, however, is on M&A; he accompanies national and cross-border corporate transactions. His clients, both sellers and buyers, are strategists as well as investors based in Germany and abroad.
Dr. Klöckner is the author of various articles in professional journals and the sample collection "Holthausen/Kurschart, Vertragsgestaltung für Geschäftsführer, Vorstände und Aufsichtsräte". He is also a regular speaker on specialist topics at events for lawyers and business people. He has in-depth industry knowledge in the automotive, energy, sports and fitness, and home and health care sectors.
His native language is German, he is fluent in English and has a basic knowledge of French.
