Prof. Dr. Gottfried Jung

Due to his varied experience in environmental administration as well as in the municipal sector, lawyer Prof. Dr. Gottfried Jung is the contact person for municipalities, municipal companies, associations as well as private companies, especially in the field of recycling management and waste disposal.

Prof. Jung worked until 2016 as head of department in the Ministry of Environment of Rhineland-Palatinate, temporarily also in the Ministry of Economics. In addition to environmental services and waste management, he was responsible for soil protection, climate protection and environmental technology. Until 2017 he was chairman of the supervisory board of Sonderabfall-Management GmbH Rheinland-Pfalz. In 2016 he was appointed honorary professor at the University of Applied Sciences Trier, Environmental Campus Birkenfeld. His main topic there, as in many lectures in Germany and abroad as well as in publications, is the recycling industry.

For many years he has been a member of the editorial board of "AbfallR - Zeitschrift für das Recht der Abfallwirtschaft" (Magazine for waste management). He is a prize winner in the life's work category of the "Die Grünen Engel 2016" award for medium-sized companies from the Bundesverband Sekundärrohstoffe und Entsorgung e. V (Federal Association for Secondary primary material and disposal). At BKV GmbH in Frankfurt, which deals with plastics recycling, he is honorary chairman of the political committee. At the St. Dominikus Foundation Speyer he is a member of the board of directors. He gained experience in municipal politics as a member and long-time faction leader in the city council of Speyer. He was a member of the administrative board of Kreis- und Stadtsparkasse Speyer (Regional and local Savings and Loan bank of Speyer) and was deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Speyer GmbH (Municipal utilities of Speyer). He is a holder of the Freiherr-vom Stein medal for special services to local government and is a holder of the Dr.-Johann-Christian-Eberle medal of the savings bank organization.
